Health Promotion Programming

In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 22% of the county’s population

• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 72% to 30,560 people. This group will make up 27% of the county’s population.
• In 2006, this county had one of the largest older adult populations.
• Compared to the state, older adults are better educated, there are fewer baby boomers, and 59% live in rural areas.
• The median income is higher for all age groups, and fewer older adults are at or below the poverty level.
• Arthritis is a common impairment, accounting for 14% of physician visits.
