Health Promotion Programming

In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 14% of the county’s population

• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 110% to 11,753 people. This group will make up 20% of the county’s population.
• Compared to the state, older adults have similar demographics and education levels, but less disability (61% report no disabilities) and 77% live in rural areas.
• The median income is similar, and fewer people age 75+ are at the poverty level.
• There were 6 Code Orange days in 2006.
• There were fewer hospitalizations for heart disease in 2006.
