Title: North Carolina Disease Event Tracking and Epidemiologic Collection Tool (NCDETECT)
GeneralDescription: Identifies suspicious patterns from multiple data surveillance systems.

Diagnosis and discharge data collected for all ED patients from 111 hospitals with EDs that receive patients 24/7. Data standardized per CDC guidelines and includes demographic, ED diagnosis, procedure, disposition, facility, insurance coverage/ payment source, arrival time, mode of transport, chief complaint, triage note, first ED acuity assessment, blood pressures, temperature, coded cause of injury.

NC Detect utilizes data from other sources (PreMis , Wildlife, etc.) to identify patterns. Data “binned” into syndromes based on the CDC’s criteria for a Bioterrorist associated agent. Provides broader public health surveillance reports for ED visits related to hurricanes, injury, asthma, vaccine preventable diseases, occupational health and others
