Health Promotion Programming

In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 8% of the county’s population

• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 94% to 50,438 people. This group will make up 15% of the county’s population.
• Cumberland has one of the smaller older adult populations in the state.
• Compared to the state, older adults have similar education levels, more live in urban areas (87%), 28% are African American and 29% have two or more disabilities.
• Fewer individuals are at or below the poverty level.
