Health Promotion Programming

In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 17% of the county’s population

• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 67% to 12,749 people. This group will make up 25% of the county’s population.
• Compared to the state, older adults have similar demographics, but less disability, and greater rural (68%) and African-American (24%) populations.
• More older adults are at or below the poverty level (26% of the age 75+ population), and greater numbers still in the workforce.
• There are several agencies actively involved in health promotion and offering EBHP.
